The timed choreography of inflation and deflation creates an ebb and flow of energy and motion within the space. At times forms are limp and deflated—whistles quiet, and then on queue one form stirs, expands and screeches. They alternately and simultaeneously trail down the steps, stretch up into the ceiling and press against the walls.

Through the simple and practical use of repurposed plastic shopping bags, we have a material which works both on a functional level and a metaphoric level. The reality of a culture built on and dependent on waste is inherent in the materials, as the clumsy jostling of the inflatables resembles the malco-ordinated and poorly directed efforts of most as we compete for space and attention in an environment that is as urgently in need as it is unforgiving and competitive.
